Staff and Instructors

Say hello to the men and women of Ocean Impact!

Mary Beth McMurray

Master Instructor, Shop Manager

Mary Beth has been a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor since 1993.  During her career as an Instructor, she has taught close to 400 students at all levels of development.  She has achieved the highest instructor ratings that PADI has to offer including Master Instructor and Instructor Development Staff Instructor.  She is also an Emergency First Response Instructor able to certify people in first aid and CPR.  Mary Beth is a professional educator having both Bachelor and Master’s degrees in education.  Teaching scuba and diving for fun are her favorite ways to meet new people and share her enthusiasm for the underwater world.

Miller Scott

Staff Instructor

Miller has been diving since 1988.  In 1993, he decided to take this passion to the professional level by obtaining his Divemaster and Instructor certifications.  He is currently a Master Scuba Diver Trainer and enjoys assisting dive students with continuing their adventures in diving whether recreational or professional.  Miller also works as a commercial diver.  Although Miller enjoys most outdoor activities, his favorites include diving, boating, and snow skiing.

Bill Jackson

Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT)

Bill has enjoyed the sport of scuba diving since 1996.  He is a PADI Specialty Instructor, and our resident "pirate scallywag." (You would have to meet Bill to understand.) He has 9 years of professional diving -- 5 of which as an instructor.  He has certified students in the Caribbean as well as local lakes. He has certified over one hundred divers and has logged well over 1000 dives.  Bill is also a Nitrox Instructor as well a Captain in his own mind aboard the "Anchor Tyme".  Cozumel is Bill’s favorite dive destination, but he has also dove all over the Caribbean in places such as Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Saint Thomas, and the Bahamas.  So when you're ready to meet this true scallywag, come on by the shop and walk the planks.

Myron Kirksey

Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT)

Myron began diving in 1999, and it quickly became a passion.   Working as a PADI Divemaster in 2000 and 2001, Myron assisted in the certification of hundreds of divers in the region, and in 2002, he earned the Open Water Scuba Instructor rating. He is now a Master Scuba Diver Trainer, Emergency First Responder Instructor, and has several specialty instructor certifications.  One of the most rewarding experiences for Myron is seeing the smiling faces and hearing the excited chatter of diving students after their first open water dive.  The outdoors, whether in the lake, the ocean, or the mountains are where he enjoys spending his time.

Focus, knowledge, and dedication.  These are just a few words to describe Ocean Impact’s PADI Course Director, Mike Slicker.  Married and from Tyler, Texas, Mike has been diving since 1990. He has over 1,500 logged dives. Mike has dove in numerous locations, but he says  his favorite area is the Caribbean. He has been a PADI Course Director since 2003 and has a 100% pass ratio for preparing divers for their Instructor Examination.  He enjoys working with people interested in continuing their professional diving careers.
